Abstract

The Gentrification and African Presence in Peckham (GAPP) walking tour highlights the spaces occupied by the Caribbean community, 1960-1990. It contextualises the significant educational, recreational, and cultural spaces that shaped Peckham’s history over this period, visiting Caribbean heritage landmarks that illuminate the community’s history and impact on the economic, social, and cultural capital of Peckham. The GAPP walk is conducted by founder and CEO Dr Charmaine Brown and lasts for about 1.5 hours. Comfortable walking shoes are recommended.
