Abstract

Snow Inn Hotel is a short animation co-created with Year 5 and 6 students from Plumcroft Primary School to address the impact of Temporary Accommodation (TA) on children’s mental health and wellbeing, part of our #NoticeUs campaign. Through drama and storytelling workshops with Dramatherapist Erene Kaptani the students were able to explore the challenges they have experienced in TA without feeling exposed. The end product, creatively put together by Artist Lucie Vyhnálková, has left them feeling proud and confident to call for change for future children.
The children are asking for:
Funded therapy for all children and families in TA.
Toys and a well-being hamper for every child in TA.
Funded breakfast and after school club for every child in TA.
Communication between the school and the services to support families in TA.
For TA to be a feasible distance from school.
The animation was first screened at our Stronger Together Forum in March 2025 thanks to support from Disrupt Foundation, Trust for London and University of Greenwich.
We will now be working together with the school and other key stakeholders to see how we can work on the asks and achieve what the children have been asking for.
