Abstract
In the language education literature, language teachers are seen as agents capable of understanding the complexity of their local practice contexts, developing reflexively, and contributing to their professional field. However, in higher education environments, vexed by shrinking time, heavy teaching workloads, and job precarity, opportunities for development are often limited to utilitarian approaches, typically focused on updating skills and techniques or addressing perceived weaknesses in performance. This presentation draws on the tenets of Exploratory Practice (EP) and insights gained from my own EP enquiries to explore the sustainable development of language teachers through two working lines: PEPAs and community of practice building.
