Abstract
From Boscombe - Peckham: An exploration of gentrification and the effects on several neighbourhoods in the UK. Paul Bacon's documentary focuses initially on an area called Boscombe which is at the very beginning of the gentrification process. It doesn't have the same historical significance as Peckham, but it shares some characteristics and obviously it's important to the people who have lived there. Following lockdowns and the rise hybrid and remote working, suddenly these sorts of places are liveable for people with big jobs who now only need to commute once or twice a week. As a result, big money regeneration plans have started to come into an area that was previously undesired. Dr Charmaine Brown's input centres on the Peckham case study around displacement of Caribbean community (1960-1990) which has already been through a similar process as Boscombe. She gives an insight into how it feels/is to live in an area that goes through gentrification through the narratives of those community members from the Windrush generation.
