Abstract

Social inequalities and a yearning for justice has been at the heart of my thought process since childhood. Arriving in the UK from Jamaica as a child, Post Empire, has shaped how I think and act due to the injustices. The philosophies and principles of Marcus Mosiah Garvey, Jamaican activist, Pan African and entrepreneur has influenced my life and choices in life. Society is so polarised and stratified on diverse levels that as someone from a marginalised community, the teachings of Marcus Garvey has helped me to critically reflect on strategies to address and overcome barriers put in place by the ‘Powers that be.’
