Abstract
A panel at a day-long series of talks, discussions, networking and games at Sheffield DocFest, exploring the latest trends in immersive and interactive storytelling. The panel addressed the questions:
- Do interactive works have the potential to connect people more strongly?
- If so, what are the techniques?
Alternate Realities brought three artists to the panel, who use very different techniques: Nadja Van Der Weide, who uses location based audio in her work 'Common Good 3', Persis-Jadé Maravala, focusing on VR and touch in 'Goodnight, Sleep Tight' (pilot), and Rachel Briscoe, who asks her audiences to participate through discussion in 'The Acquisition Panel'. The artists discussed these different approaches.
