Abstract
Scene setting overview of the need for action in the face of threats resulting from the environmental consequences of collective human behaviours and lifestyles before tipping points are reached after which an existential challenge such as global warming becomes unstoppable. Roles participants could play and opportunities that they and their organisations and networks could pursue are also highlighted, ahead of round table discussions of possible next steps and report backs at an event in Bengaluru. Participants who were mainly from India were reminded that India’s heritage of ancient wisdom respects nature and advocates living in harmony with the natural world. Depending upon the extent to which COP’26 commitments are delivered, the country’s population could be large enough for the lifestyle ambitions of its citizens and the collective activities of Indian companies to tip the balance in favour of either extinction or survival.
