Abstract

This project proposes a "parallel collection" of artefacts, reflecting experiences of engagement with the collection of the Serlachius Foundation through its two museums, taken from across the range of the museums' partner communities. Participants include those who visit, exhibit and work at the museums as well service providers and other civic partners. The final collection of artefacts gathered is presented in conjunction with an analysis of the original Foundation collections to provide a visual account of how the founding objectives of the collectors are met in the expectations of those who engage with the museums today.
Project outcomes are exhibited in the museums' residency gallery, "Aleksanterin linna" from 19-29/7/19 as a digitally interactive display, which invites further project contributions. Additionally, the display elements are published in poster format, including an introductory text and participant responses to date. These and subsequent responses are also posted on a dedicated project instagram page.
