Some of the factors that need to be considered, to overcome problems and challenges involved in the segregation process of iron ores, are discussed. Bulk density is one of the significant parameters considered for increasing the quality and consistency iron ore materials coming through the segregation process. Voids ratio for the bulk solid can be reduced significantly for ores that have a single ingredient, by increasing the bulk density. An analysis of the bulk characteristics of material being processed and segregated needs to be undertaken as one of the key techniques, to obtain an indication of the likelihood of the bulk material to be segregated. An examination of the size distribution of the material to be segregated can also demonstrate its potential for the process.
