Abstract

The Visualisation Research Unit was commissioned by the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham, in 2010 to create a work for the decommissioning of Selly Oak Hospital in Birmingham. It was initiated as part of a change management programme for staff and the public. The resulting work ‘The Watertower’, was an installation at the Hospital that combined a computer games engine and a HUD with oral histories from staff and patients to tell the story of the old Hospital and look forward to the future. This work was the subject of this chapter in the book ‘Museums at Play’ (Sporton & Makiola,2011).
