Abstract

Performer training can be a contentious field with many disparate voices that pull in different directions. One reason for this is the degree to which scholars and practitioners are invested in it – how crucial it is to us. The field consists of many communities of practice who find shared purpose in their solidarity and commitment to principles. It is inevitable, therefore, that when those communities engage with one another there will be conflict. However, through the discourse within TDPT, and other communities such as the International Platform for Performer Training, we witness the strength of this diversity. The respect for alternative points of view that persists while we hold contradictory convictions is what enables the discipline to keep vital, engaged, and present. The articles and Training Grounds pieces in this issue are emblematic of this act of solidarity and continual renewal.
