Abstract

The integration of digital technologies in higher education, particularly through Learning Management Systems (LMS) like
Canvas, has transformed student engagement, accessibility, and learning outcomes. This study investigates the impact of
LMS-integrated podcasting and social media features on student engagement, perceived feedback effectiveness, and
academic performance. Using a sample of 200 undergraduate students in a 10-week experimental study, participants were
divided into an experimental group (utilising podcasting and social media tools within Canvas) and a control group (using
traditional LMS features without interactive tools). Results indicate that the experimental group reported higher
engagement levels (M = 4.12, SD = 0.78) compared to the control group (M = 3.45, SD = 0.85), alongside improved
academic performance (M = 85.3%, SD = 8.2) versus the control group (M = 74.6%, SD = 9.1). Pearson’s correlation
further revealed a strong positive relationship between engagement and academic performance (r = 0.63, p < 0.01). These
findings suggest that LMS tools, particularly podcasting and social media features, significantly enhance student
engagement and learning outcomes, providing a practical and accessible framework for digital learning. Implications for
institutional policies to support interactive learning environments are discussed, with recommendations on effective LMS
integration to foster an engaging and interactive educational setting
