Abstract

Talk to NYT cast of Bola Agbaje's play 'Gone Too Far' set in Peckham exploring the strong themes of gentrification and race within this area. Race and identity politics underpins the impact of Gentrification on Black urban removal. An exploration of several spaces in key regeneration/gentrification zones critically analyses impact of displacement, socially, economically & politically. Storytelling is the method used to reflect on the oral histories of the settlers from the Windrush Generation. A guided walk provides the background of the past and present, provides the context for the National Youth to perform Bola Agbaje's (2023) forthcoming play 'Gone Too Far' on the themes of gentrification, identify and race in Peckham.
