Abstract

Aim: To Explore Novel Strategies that may be employed in Transformative Simulation.
In this workshop we will investigate some of the novel opportunities we are confident exist for innovative Transformative Simulation having reflected on our own varied application of lived experiences in health & care, engineering, art, design and engagement, and education.
Objectives:
Share non-traditional methods used in group activities.
Collaborate in cross-cutting innovation in design of experiential events.
Consider application of design innovations in Transformative Simulation.
Developing from our shared experiences as a model, participants (and faculty) share both what has been applied and what may well have been previously considered irrelevant or even inadmissible experiences to examine how we can find cross-cutting applicability and discover innovation. As part of this, faculty will import cross-cutting strategies from other fields to gather participant outcomes. Although this workshop is entitled as cross-cutting, the final & major session of the programme is to discover how the principles of Transformative Simulation [1] empower us to utilise any previous expertise perhaps especially when collaborating to infuse new ideas into routine design processes. Finally, relating the work done so far to Transformative Simulation and thus review outcomes in the context of the Seven “I”s of Transformative Simulation, for example the use of magic [2], art: e.g. poetry which “can foster a heightened awareness of the human elements at play in simulation-based education” [3] to explore emotions too complex or personal to express in words, to illuminate (particularly), Involvement, Inclusion and Influence, or the use of engineering to illuminate Innovation, Improvement, and Intervention.
