Abstract
This event “Reproduce Lake: Listening Room” marked the beginning of a new experimental initiative titled Bassial Audio, a sonic exploration focused on the physicality of harsh bass and deep noise. With special thanks to Andrew Knight-Hill for his distinctive live diffusing and spatialisation techniques, this performance brought together a unique blend of experimental sound and spatial audio. Held at Lake, a boutique sound art gallery in Enclave 5, Deptford (50 Resolution Way, London SE8 4AL), the event embraced the gallery’s 7.1 surround sound system, offering a profound audio experience. My contribution to this showcase was centered around pushing the boundaries of bass textures and noise manipulation, creating immersive and visceral soundscapes alongside a line-up of exceptional artists in the field of experimental sound art. The event successfully initiated a dialogue on how sound and space intertwine, providing new perspectives for audience and artists alike on the performative and physical dimensions of bass-heavy compositions in contemporary sound art practices.
