Abstract

The UKGG D&I group would like to invite you the second event in our Black History Month series, with our fantastic guest speaker, Dr Charmaine Brown. Dr Brown's talk will focus on the Gentrification of Peckham and Black Urban Removal Worldwide and will take place on Thursday 28th of October at 10.00-11.00 on Google Meets.

Dr Charmaine Brown is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Greenwich's Faculty of Education, Health and Human Sciences, and regularly presents independent lectures for Black History Walks. In her internationally renowned talk, 'Gentrification of Peckham and Black Urban removal worldwide', Dr Brown will explore some of the ways in which gentrification has impacted on the Black community in the UK and further afield, and the ways in which a complex set of public policy interactions have played out in practice. Dr Brown's expertise in this area has gained her international recognition and collaborations.

This insightful event, is particularly pertinent for the work of the new Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities.
