Abstract

Covid19 has brought some strong lessons about the economy, most obviously the key role of the state in managing the economy and sustaining citizens and businesses. It has also demonstrated the central importance of public services to our lives, and forced a recognition of the ‘essential’ nature of public service labour, producing services fundamental to life, by contrast with business activity thrown up by the market. In this context, this paper looks at the economic recovery from Covid-19.
