Abstract

According to my dictionary, ‘diversity’ means different kinds. In the United Kingdom, it may be accepted that to most observers and practitioners within education that this is about a varied population, usually in terms of heritage, ethnicity, faith or language.
In the same vein, ‘multi-cultural’ means many cultures, which arguably, just like ‘diversity’, has no real semblance of togetherness or cohesion. Recent events in the USA and in the UK have exposed how certain aspects of society have not been cohesive and there are three main points I wish to draw from that.
