This book will help you think about the role of the primary teacher in educating ’the whole child’, and in particular how to ensure that you provide a broad and balanced curriculum. In this Introduction, we shall explore briefly what we mean by ‘the whole child’. We shall discuss why a broad and curriculum is so important, but so difficult to implement in the current climate, and introduce these as key themes that will be picked up throughout the whole book.
