Abstract
STEM the Tide was a variety performance at the sold-out 200 seat auditorium at The Albany in SE8. The show included numerous performers including poets, musicians and stand-up comedians delivering their performances against the back-drop of a narrative. The storyline regarded a tidal surge which threatens to overcome the Thames Flood Barrier, putting Deptford at risk of flooding. The storyline included historical references to the 1953 Thames floods, as well as up to date narratives surrounding the capabilities of today's flood barrier and how urban development increases flood risks by destroying natural defences.
