Abstract

This aim of this study it to demonstrate that idioms as a reliable tool to measure contextual inference in children aged between 6 and 10 year old if an efficient method to evaluate the degree of familiarity of the idiom, allowing to build an adapted experimental material, has been found. We argue that the effectiveness of methods measuring the degree of familiarity of idioms is a prerequisite for the study of game processes in the comprehension idioms in children under the age of 10.
