Abstract

This paper summarises scoping work carried out for the Commonwealth War Graves Commission's Special Committee on Non-Commemoration, which reported in 2021. It demonstrates that there appears to be significant non-commemoration of casualties from colonial Punjab, and shows how the 'Punjab Registers' may be utilised to correct the historical record, ensuring a more equitable and inclusive account of British war dead.
