The purpose of this chapter is to introduce readers to the history of town planning in the United Kingdom from the nineteenth century to the 1980s and to examine its relationship to housing, then to examine the planning system and housing in the 1990s and to consider some future causes for concern. Post-war legislation.
Planning, housing and design in the post-war years.
Planning and private sector house-building in the 1960s and 1970s.
