This paper will provide a comparative analysis of attitudes by healthcare multinational companies to regulation issues, with a specific focus on the regulation of healthcare professionals, in Europe and South East Asia.
Doctors play a key role in the delivery of acute private health care and consequently the development of multinational healthcare products. Employment relations are often seen by multinational healthcare companies as a restriction on their operations. However, many doctors are self-employed and this reduces the risk for multinational healthcare companies. National systems of medical employment and the creation of medical professionals have a strong influence on companies. There will also be discussion of other healthcare professionals and their relationships with multinational healthcare companies.
