Abstract

This short walking tour was developed for University of Greenwich public health and housing students, but anyone with an interest in Greenwich’s housing history is welcome to take the tour. It was developed by Dr Jill Stewart (University of Greenwich) and Dr Zoe Hendon (independent historian). This Greenwich walking tour passes through the amazing World Heritage Site and West Greenwich’s Conservation Area, taking in a range of housing types to consider the many architectural and other factors that impact public health. There is so much of interest that we have not been able to mention everything. So, as you walk around please remember to take pictures of anything you find interesting, and keep thinking about the various ways in which public health is impacted by housing and the built environment in general.
Please take care when crossing roads and look out for the people you are with. If you are taking photographs or discussing points with your companions, please be sensitive to the fact that these are people’s homes. In other words, don’t be too critical too loudly!
