Abstract

Sociocultural and intercultural communicative competencies are probably the most difficult to enhance in a non-linguistic immersion learning context. Its difficulty lies in, first, the learning context and, second, in questions that as foreign language teachers we ask ourselves: what “culture” to bring to the classroom, how to decide what part of the “culture” associated with the target language of study is the relevant one, how all of this affects the identity of our students, etc. In response to these questions and concerns, we have created an academic tool for the improvement of these competencies, the reflective sociocultural e-portfolios, which we present and analyse here.
