Abstract

The main objective of this paper is the development of a model for operational efficiency improvement in the Agrifood Supply Chain. This model refers to the key processes including both inbound and supply chain wide logistics activities that have critical effect on the performance of an agrifood company. The main steps followed to develop this model included the identification of key logistics processes and the development of generic models based on practical examples of best practices, and enterprise information systems guidelines. This model will provide with customized service to agrifood SME’s and VSME’s enabling them to design and apply an adequate number of standardized business processes based on their special needs.
