Abstract

In a nutshell: The new report “Broken Promises: The ECB's Widening Paris Gap” shows that the European Central Bank is failing at its own climate action plan - just a year after it announced the climate strategy to align its corporate bond portfolio with the 2015 Paris Agreement. Despite initial ambitions and at a time of increasingly extreme climate events, the ECB is failing to adequately reduce shareholding in companies not compliant with 1.5°C goals, and its own gap with the Paris Agreement is rapidly widening.
