Abstract

UK universities play an important role in developing students as independent learners. It is more challenging to educate international students however who are new to UK HE and have to learn in a second language. This book covers the essential skills ranging from study skills, assessment skills, comprehensive skills and employability skills to help international Chinese students to complete their studies at UK universities and achieve their goals.
The book consists of seven chapters each focusing on a particular skill set. Each chapter is broken down into a series of sub-sections. Each is based on a particular learning setting, it explains what it is, what is expected of students, skills to develop and tips to learn effectively in that particular setting. There are also self-assessment questions provided for each section. To make the book more practical to Chinese international students, a list of keywords and key phrases are also included at the end of each sub-section.
