Abstract

The article comments on Barking & Dagenham LBC v Omokudu [2020] 5 WLUK 173 on whether a bankrupt tenant was entitled to relief from forfeiture under s.138 of the County Courts Act 1984 where his rent arrears were paid by the church at which he was a pastor, on the ground that it was done with his authority and, therefore, disapplied the rule that a third party could not discharge a stranger's debts.
