The challenge for fast and low-cost deployment ofubiquitous personalized e-Health services has prompted us to pro-pose a new framework architecture for such services. We havestudied the operational features and the environment of e-Healthservices and we led to a framework structure that extends theEuropean Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI)/Parlayarchitecture, which is used for the deployment of standardizedservices over the next generation IP networks. We expanded theETSI/Parlay architecture with new service capability features aswell as sensor, profiling, and security mechanisms. The proposedframework assists the seamless integration, within the e-Healthservice structure, of diverse facilities provided by both the under-lying communication and computing infrastructure as well as thepatient’s bio and context sensor networks. Finally, we demonstratethe deployment of a telemonitoring service in smart home environ-ment based on the proposed framework architecture.
