Abstract

We report for thefirst time the use of the singlet oxygen sensor green for the evaluation of the generation ofsinglet oxygen from fullerenes and gold hybrids. The ratiometric response of the sensor with a series of fullerenederivatives was investigated.Μono adducts of C60and C70decorated with various functional groups and aterminal thiol group were coupled with gold nanoparticles. The forbidden singlet-to-triplet transition thatmanifest in a singlet oxygen generation was investigated before and after the addition of gold nanoparticles. Wealso studied the Lu3N@C80, functionalized with a pyrene group albeit without a terminal thiol.
