Abstract

Presentation made at the C5+1 Expert-Level Meeting on Regional Phytosanitary Cooperation under the C5+1 Central Asia Business Competitiveness Activity (CABC, USAID-funded), Dushanbe, Tajikistan, 24 August 2017. Purpose was to describe the Asian Development Bank's assessments of sanitary and phytosanitary capacity in the CAREC region and the priorities for regional modernization of SPS to facilitate trade. The outcome was sharing of experiences and plans for cooperation on SPS matters between the C5 group of countries (Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan) and ADB's interventions in the wider CAREC region (C5 plus Afghanistan, Azebaijan, Georgia, Mongolia, Pakistan and PRC)
