Abstract

The act of découpé liberates the maker from the notions of originality and authenticity. Pseudo-autobiographical these works highlight our ability to sample external sources and reconfigure them into a new text, breaking language flow and materiality, closely related to William S Burroughs' ideas in 'Storming the Reality Studio' (McCaffery, 1992).
