Abstract

• Patients with COPD may also suffer from other conditions, such as anxiety disorders, cardiac disease or diabetes.
• Tobacco smoking is recognised as the most common cause of COPD, so smoking cessation may be one way of successfully managing the condition.
• Between 20% and 50% of COPD patients are non adherent, the main problem being misunderstanding medication.
