Abstract

Sounds of the Cultural Quarter application was commissioned by the Affective Digital Histories AHRC project. It is an interactive sound map composition for Android and iOS devices which provides listeners with the opportunity to explore contemporary and historic sounds of Leicester's Cultural Quarter.
The sound materials reflect the diverse history of the area and allow users to augment their reality as they walk around and explore the streets. The sounds were curated to reflect key aspects of historic interest and architectural landmarks.

The project was documented in a BBC Radio 4 interview for the PM programme: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p02gbs48

Technical realisation of the Application was facilitated by Cuttlefish Media. Concept, Design and Content by Andrew Hill
