Abstract
This article examines the cases on the construction of perpetually renewable leases and, in the light of the findings of the writers' survey of conveyancing solicitors in England and wales on the continued operation of the Law of Property Act 1922, argues for the repeal of the 1922 Act in favour of a new statutory scheme governing perpetual leases.
