This study explores business excellence (BE) in Asian organizations by comparing the performance and toolset of organizations highly mature in BE (those with competent or advanced BE tools and techniques) with those less mature in BE. 74 responding organizations across Asia completed a questionnaire and the data were triangulated with data from discussion groups and semi-structured interviews. The results revealed that those highly mature in BE significantly outperformed their less mature counterparts in a number of business areas. The study also discovered a number of approaches to improving an organization’s level of BE maturity.
