Abstract

The "Remembering Katyń" seminar was organised as a part of the "Genealogies of Memory" project. The results of the "Memory at War" project were also presented. "Remembering Katyń" (Polity Books, 2012), written by a group of researchers from Cambridge University, places the experience of Katyń in a broader context of Eastern European societies after WWII.

It describes how the Katyń massacre functions in the collective memory of Poles, Belarusians, Russians, Lithuanians, Latvians and Estonians.

The seminar took place on the 22 March 2013 in the Warsaw University Library. The authors of the book took part in a discussion with the participants of the international "Memory at War" project.
