Abstract

The article considers cases on the application of the forfeiture rule, whereby a person who has unlawfully killed another cannot benefit as a consequence of that killing, specifically concerning: the severance of a joint tenancy; relief from forfeiture under the Forfeiture Act 1982; insanity and diminished responsibility; death caused by careless driving; suicide pacts; assisted suicide; and claims under the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975.
