Abstract
AIMS OF THE TOOLKIT:
Translate theory into practice: Demonstrate how the SoP approach can be operationalised to empirically map vertical linkages from consumption back to production within a national context.
Encourage structural thinking in food consumption research: Highlight the importance of examining food acquisition and consumption practices in relation to broader systemic, social, and economic dynamics, not just individual behaviours.
Promote interdisciplinary inquiry and multi-methods analysis: Showcase how analytical tools from development and political economy, anthropology, public health, and human geography may be integrated to investigate the complexity of food systems.
Support adaptation and learning in field research: Provide guidance
on the practicalities of implementing participatory, multi-sited, and cross-scalar methods in Global South contexts, with a particular focus on Ghana.
