Abstract

Authenticity in tourism, particularly in cultural heritage tourism, has garnered significant attention from scholars and practitioners. This chapter offers a comprehensive bibliometric overview of authenticity in tourism, notably in the heritage tourism context. The research method entails descriptive statistics and advanced bibliometric analysis of authenticity publications. Additionally, the chapter uses visualisation of similarities viewer software (VOS Viewer) to perform a science mapping analysis of authenticity studies based on co-authorship and keyword co-occurrence. The main findings include the growth trajectory of authenticity research and its geographic distribution, the high-impact documents, topics, and sources. This chapter underscores the significance of authenticity in cultural heritage tourism, offering insights for both academia and practice, especially in the Asian context.
