Abstract

This Theme Paper explores areas on the agenda of the 35th Annual Directors’ Conclave. It suggests issues and questions that directors, speakers, and other participants might wish to consider ahead of the event and discuss with their peers, and highlights developments since last year’s conclave. It includes references to recent investigations and studies related to the conference’s agenda. Areas covered include assessing current governance arrangements, charting the next decade of governance, coping with geopolitical developments, coping with climate change, addressing new arenas of governance challenge, balancing shareholder and stakeholder interests, possible changes over the next decade, strengthening corporate governance: insights from recent events, governmental and regulatory intervention, pragmatic, ethical and responsible leadership in a transactional era, responsible stewardship, ESG and competitive advantage, artificial intelligence (AI) opportunities and threats, ethical AI governance and responsible adoption and use, and shaping future expectations. The conclave enables directors to discuss prospects and priorities.
