Abstract

This chapter provides a thematic overview of English social, cultural, political and religious history between c. 1603-1707. It draws on original sources to illuminate key events and processes in the expansion of English commerce, religion and forms of governance into new global territories; and how English men and women navigated the seismic changes in the domestic political and social landscape.
