Abstract

Transitions from narrow coplanar waveguide to three types of wider transmission lines have been designed for 2-18 GHz, to facilitate the connection with coaxial connectors. They are conventional coplanar waveguide (CPW) taper transition, conductor-backed coplanar waveguide (CPWG)-to-microstrip transition and CPWG-to-CPW transition. The match between the coplanar and the coaxial is optimized. The interfacial configurations between coplanar line and coaxial connector are modeled using 3D full-wave simulations. The CPW taper transition and the CPWG-to-CPW transition are implemented in the 25 ns CPW and CPWG superconducting delay lines. The reflection coefficients of both transitions, connected to the coaxial connectors, are less than 0.04, measured in time domain.
