The author discusses research on the assaying serum apolipoprotein B100 (apoB). He notes the study considering apoB better than the calculated non-high-density lipoprotein (non-HDL-C) or low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) for statin treatment. He points out the results of another research revealing the higher concentrations of serum apoB in hypertriglyceridaemic patients than from LDL-C concentration. He adds that these concentrations are high in familial defective apoB (FDB).
