Sahlbergella singularis Hagl. and Distantiella theobroma (Dist.) are responsible for important yield losses in African cocoa (Theobroma cacao) plantations. To prevent or reduce mirid damage, insecticide spraying is currently the only viable control option. However, the non-conformance to spraying calendars, as well as the negative effects of insecticides ask for alternative control methods. Pheromones have been used to control and or monitor pest populations in the past with promising results. Therefore, the objective of the presented work was to evaluate the attractiveness of five different pheromone blends as well as the impact of trap design on attractiveness towards cocoa mirids in Cameroon.
