Abstract

This paper sets out the ways in which creative writing practitioners working in prisons occupy a liminal space between fact and fiction, neither fully on the outside of the inside, or the inside of the outside. The paper argues that it is this sense of outsider status that enables them to work positively with those on the inside of the prison.
