Discusses, in light of the High Court decision in Celestial Aviation Trading 71 Ltd v Paramount Airways Private Ltd, the extent to which equitable relief against forfeiture is confined to leases involving interests in land and not possessory rights in personal property. Reviews case law holding that contractual rights are ineligible for relief against forfeiture, and conflicting authorities which granted discretionary relief in respect of chattels. Details the facts of Celestial, notes the questions posed by the court and evaluates the current position.
