Abstract

In this leading comment, the author provides a succinct, provocative case for the cancellation of Brexit. The piece recognises the valid concerns over political transparency in the EU, however it argues that the decision to leave is premature and does not take heed of both the security and economic costs. The piece was, in retrospect, a timely and high-profile call for reconsideration as the more rational debates around the benefits and drawbacks of EU membership finally began to be played out in earnest in the public arena, compared to the emotive language and imagery of the pre-referendum campaigns.
